About the College:

The idea to establish the College of Nursing is launched according to need to prepare nursing staff with in efficient and effective in line with the scientific and technical development to need to provide preventive ,curative and rehabilitative nursing services that provided appropriate health level for the individual , family and community through the use of scientific methods .

For this reason ,the College of Nursing /University of Thi-Qar was established in 2008-2009 and the duration of studying in the college is four years , after which the college grants the graduates a bachelor's degree in nursing sciences . It aims to provide nursing care to the individual . family , community , and for different ages and circumstances and it has multiple activities that include helping cases patients to recovery and help in diagnosis ,treatment and rehabilitation when they have the disease and to carry out these activities . The students had accepted into this college in the academic year 2008-2009. 42 students were accepted from the 6th preparatory school from scientific branch divided into (30 female students + 12 male students), then more students accepted from the graduates of Nursing Preparatory School and the Medical Institute, who numbered (15) students .Now , there are four stages in the college, and the total number of students is more than (579) male and female students, as the percentage of females is 80%.
